I’m more of a sub than dub man myself, but many were left rightfully miffed when the Rising of the Shield Hero English dub air date overshot its mark and didn’t make its way on to any streaming service. With that in mind, here’s when you can expect the first episode of the Rising of the Shield Hero dub release date.
When is the Rising of the Shield Hero English dub air date?
Originially slated for a Wednesday, January 9 release, the Rising of the Shield Hero dub debut (try saying that 10 times while drunk), has been pushed back due to “unforeseen circumstances” according to the show’s official Twitter account (H/T Anime News Network).
As of right now, there has been no further update in regards to a new release date. The rumors have already begun swirling as to why there’s been a delay, which might feed in to when we can expect to see it, but here’s hoping we can get something in place by the time of the scheduled second dub episode on January 16. For what it’s worth, Crunchyroll has told ANN that we can expect more news soon and we’ll update this page accordingly when it comes to pass.
Why was the Rising of the Shield Hero English dub air date changed?
Other than the ambiguous reasoning given by the show’s account on Twitter, we actually have a fairly obvious reason which may have attributed to the Rising of the Shield Hero dub delay.
The series begins with a false rape accusation, as well as ending with one of the characters purchasing a slave. This has led to a backlash in some quarters, with the dub potentially being edited or softened in lieu of this response. A potential censorship could be the reason the show has been pushed back but, again, we’ve heard nothing official. We’ll just have to play the waiting game and hope we get to double dip on one of the season’s most intriguing anime next Wednesday.
