Mortal Kombat 11, the latest game in the legendarily brutal fighting game series, is due out in April, and we’re slowly putting together the character roster based on various reveals, which currently includes old favorites such as Baraka and Sonya Blade as well as new characters such Kronika and Geras. But one particularly popular character still hasn’t been confirmed: Mileena, the deadly assassin. Will she be in MK11? Or will there be Mortal Kombat 11 Mileena DLC? We’ll do our best to answer.
Could Mileena return in Mortal Kombat 11?
Mileena is an enormously popular character in the Mortal Kombat series. She was introduced in Mortal Kombat 2 and she’s appeared in pretty much every game in the series since, so it would be weird to have a new game in the series without her. However, [SPOILERS FOR MORTAL KOMBAT X] at the end of the previous game Mileena was actually killed, executed by Shao Kahn and D’Vorah.
However, that might not stop Mileena from being a playable character in Mortal Kombat 11. The Joker was still a fighter in Injustice 2, NetherRealm’s last game, and he’s been dead since the beginning of that series. The main way NetherRealm could bring back Mileena is that MK11’s story entirely deals with time manipulation, which means that her death could be undone. The studio could even bring in a version of Mileena from earlier in the series. Nevertheless, it is very probable she’ll return, since she’s too popular to leave out.
Might there be Mortal Kombat 11 Mileena DLC?
The alternative, of course, is that NetherRealm could leave Mileena out of the main campaign and sell her as fighter DLC as part of the Season Pass. Shao Kahn is an important fighter to the Mortal Kombat series, and he’s only appearing as DLC. There will be six DLC characters released after the game comes out, so it’s very likely that if Mileena isn’t in the main game, she’ll be a DLC fighter instead.
