Apex Legends has been out for a little while now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and naturally, fans are wondering what’s next for the popular battle royale game. Players might have noticed, too, that there are some similarities between in-game legend Pathfinder and Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie. Is there ever going to be an official Apex Legends Chappie crossover, though? Is Chappie coming to Apex Legends? The answers can be found below.
Apex Legends Chappie | Is Chappie in Apex Legends?
As of writing, you cannot play as Chappie in Apex Legends. Despite how good a fit you might feel the character would be in the game or any similarities there are between Chappie and Pathfinder. Getting an officially licensed character into any game as a sort of crossover would take a lot of paperwork.
There is, however, some hope that an Apex Legends Chappie crossover could happen in some form or another.
Apex Legends Chappie | Is Chappie coming to Apex Legends?
While there is currently no sign of Chappie coming to Apex Legends, the director of the Chappie film has weighed in on fan requests. Taking to Twitter, Neill Blomkamp said “lotta people asking me this. I am down yes.” Vince Zampella (CEO of Respawn) weighed in on the matter in the same thread. Zampella simply added: “I am also down.”
Now, the positive thread doesn’t confirm anything, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Chappie come to Apex Legends in some capacity. Both parties definitely seem up for it, at least. All it would take is some development time and discussion. Neill Blomkamp is in good working stead with EA, too. He recently directed the live-action trailer for EA’s Anthem, so talks between the two parties could feasibly process easily enough.
Whether or not Chappie will be its own unique Legend, however, is another question. It would require less development time and resources to simply create a legendary Chappie skin for Pathfinder. We will wait and see.
