Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | Darth Vader, Rebels, multiplayer and more

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the big new hope for Star Wars videogame fans, but it’s also the next game from Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the hottest game of right now, Apex Legends. Consequently, a lot of gamers are looking forward to it and are desperate for any new information on the game. It’s been confirmed that we’ll finally see it in action at Star Wars Celebration Chicago in April, but until then we have only leaks and rumors to fall back on. So what Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order rumors are there?

We’ve rounded up all the leaks and rumors regarding possibly EA’s last chance at making a beloved Star Wars game, and there’s a mix of the truly wild and the surprisingly likely. Some are backed up by several sources, whereas others are lucky to have a single YouTube video about them. These include characters that might feature, how the game will play, what the story will involve, and perhaps the craziest one (considering we’re talking about the studio behind Titanfall and Apex Legends), that it might not have multiplayer. Let’s have a look.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | It will play like The Force Unleashed

While we know a few things about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the one very notable thing we have no idea about is what the game will actually play like. It could be a sequel to Yoda Stories for all we know. We know that it will probably be an action/adventure, as EA has described it as such, and the director of God of War 3 is behind it. However, a rumor from respected fan site Making Star Wars suggests that Fallen Order will play a lot like 2008’s Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, complete with third-person Jedi action and Force powers. However, according to them it’ll be “less extreme, more true to canon… you won’t see anything absurd,” such as pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky. They also had another rumor for us…

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | It will not have multiplayer

Respawn Entertainment is the developer behind Apex Legends and Titanfall 1 and 2, and before they left Infinity Ward they helped create the entire Call of Duty phenomenon. In other words, the developers in that studio helped to define multiplayer gaming as we know it today, and Apex Legends has them right on top again. Therefore it’s slightly shocking to think that its next game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order might not have a multiplayer component. This rumor again comes from Making Star Wars, specifically their Editor-in-Chief Jason Ward, who suggested that fans “will probably want to keep Star Wars Battlefront installed for multiplayer stuff.”

Star Wars Battlefront 2 continues to be popular, but we still can’t imagine the EA of today shipping a game without an online component of some sort. However, this was sort of backed up by Respawn head Vince Zampella, who revealed the game back at E3 2018. He tweeted about Fallen Order and specifically referred to it as “single-player.” Just like every five seconds of Rogue One, we live in hope.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | Darth Vader and his comic’s hints

The game is set during the “Dark Times” between Episodes III and IV, with the Jedi being hunted down and the Empire expanding unopposed. If we’re playing as a Jedi during this time period, then it doesn’t take much imagination to consider that the Empire’s main Jedi-hunter (and most recognizable face in the franchise) Darth Vader will feature in Fallen Order. He’ll probably be on the front cover, in fact. However, even more interesting is the fact that the recent Darth Vader comic book series has hints about the game’s story. Just after Fallen Order‘s reveal, Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group tweeted that the “upcoming” comics in that series would do this.

That series has now reached its conclusion, and all issues are available. The series is set during the same time period as Fallen Order, and mostly sees Vader training the Inquisitors to hunt down Jedi, as well as the construction of his fortress on Mustafar seen in Rogue One. Rest assured, we’ll be going through those comics carefully now.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | The main character is a Padawan called Cal

In December a Reddit user claimed to have had a look at a number of marketing materials for a number of Star Wars projects, including Fallen Order. A lot of what they said was familiar, based on other rumors, but they also mentioned how the game is set 5 years after Revenge of the Sith and the main character is a Padawan who escaped Order 66, who is named “Cal.” While the name isn’t confirmed, Starwars.com just confirmed that the rest is 100 percent accurate. Could the name be accurate? Could he also have a mentor named Ceres? Of course, there were other points there too…

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | The Inquisitors will be your enemies

Aside from Darth Vader, the other big Jedi hunters of the Dark Times were the Inquisitors, as seen in Star Wars Rebels and the Darth Vader comic by Charles Soule. The brothers and sisters of the Inquisitorius were one of the first pieces of the old Expanded Universe to be brought back in to the new Disney-era canon, and they would make perfect adversaries for a video game. Unlike Vader they can actually be killed off, for example. Returning to Reddit user Xyzsvtabc once again, they say that the Inquisitors will feature, and “characters from the comics” which lines up with the Darth Vader rumor earlier in this list. They specifically mention the 9th and 2nd Sisters, which brings us to…

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | Barriss Offee from Clone Wars will feature

The 9th Sister is Masana Tide, who only appeared in the Darth Vader comic series, and could totally appear in Fallen Order as her fate is unknown. The 2nd Sister, however, is a bit more mysterious. Other than knowing that she exists, she is being kept mysterious for “forthcoming content.” Returning to Jason Ward of Making Star Wars, Ward posted that he believed this Sister (or at least, an Inquisitor) was actually Barriss Offee, the tragic ex-Jedi and friend of Ahsoka Tano. The last we saw of Barriss, she was being hauled off to prison for betraying the Jedi Order and the Republic. All the Inquisitors are ex-Jedi with a grudge against the Order, so she’d be a perfect fit, especially if we finally get to find out what happened to her.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Rumors | Star Wars Rebels crossover

Ending on a slightly-iffy rumor that may well pan out, but is more guesswork on WhatCulture‘s part than an actual leak, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order may indeed crossover with the CGI series Star Wars Rebels, which of course is set in the same time period between Episodes III-IV. A lot of fans suggested that we would even be playing Kanan Jarrus, also known as Padawan Caleb Dume who survived Order 66, which fits into the rumors neatly. However, his life was well sketched out by his own comic book series, so we probably won’t be playing as him, but both Kanan and partner Hera Syndulla might well make an appearance in the game. It would work out very well, in fact. Hopefully we’ll find out for sure in April.
