Available right now, The Division 2 World Tier 5 unlocks are what you achieve in the final mission of the launch build of the game. While future content will no doubt expand on the game’s endgame offerings, it is the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission that will open up access to the final selection of WT5 rewards. Here’s what you need to know about The Division 2 World Tier 5 Gear Sets, Gear Score 500 increase, Weekly Invasions, and the Heroic Difficulty mode unlock.
Anyone who has rinsed through what The Division 2 already has to offer will definitely want to play through and unlock The Division 2 Tidal Basin and The Division 2 World Tier 5. Read on to discover how you can unlock both of these (currently) final endgame pieces of content.
The Division 2 World Tier 5 Gear Sets, Gear Score 500 Increase, Weekly Invasions, Heroic Difficulty Unlock
As The Division 2 World Tier 5 is available to unlock right now, you will be able to make the most of all of its upgrades as soon as you unlock it (more on that process below). There’s a lot to like about the new rewards you’ll be able to grab in World Tier 5, however.
The Division 2 Tidal Basin Invaded Mission rewards, which then unlocks World Tier 5, are as follows:
- Gear Sets – Find powerful gear sets like Ongoing Directive, Hard Wired, and True Patriot!
- New Gear Score Cap – New dropped-loot gear score of 500.
- Weekly Invasions
- Heroic Difficulty
While we have a full guide for The Division 2 World Tier 5 Gear Sets and Score, we feel like its best to explain them both a little here. Upon completing the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission, Black Tusk enemies and completed Invaded Missions will randomly drop new Gear Sets. The three new Gear Sets are Hardwired, Ongoing Detective, and True Patriot.
Brand-new Weekly Invasions will be added into The Division 2 upon reaching World Tier 5. These will involve those pesky Black Tusk enemies invading Main Missions and Strongholds across The Division 2 world map. These will prove to be difficult Invaded Missions, but the rewards won’t be slight. You’ll be able to take these Weekly Invasions on in any difficulty you see fit, with the best rewards saved for those completing Weekly Invasions on the new Heroic Difficulty.
How to reach The Division 2 World Tier 5 unlock
To reach World Tier 5 in The Division 2, you must first make your way through World Tier 1, World Tier 2, World Tier 3, and finally to World Tier 4. By completing the related missions and strongholds, all the while increasing your Gear Score, you’ll steadily make your way to World Tier 5.
Division 2 players had to wait a long while before they could play through World Tier 5. It is available to unlock and play through right now, however, so long as you download the 1.05 update. Not only do you need to play through all of World Tiers 1-4 before you can unlock World Tier 5, you will also (as it turns out), need to play through a whole new side mission and the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission. There’s an awful lot you need to do before you’ll be able to play through The Division 2 World Tier 5.
Follow these steps to unlock The Division 2 World Tier 5:
- Reach Player level 30
- Complete World Tiers 1-4
- After you have finished World Tier 4, you need to complete a brand-new Side-Mission
- Once you have completed the new Side-Mission, you unlock Tidal Basin
- Complete the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission and Stronghold to unlock The Division 2 World Tier 5
As we explained above, unlocking World Tier 5 will award you with better loot, Gear Sets, Weekly Invasions, and more. Endgame players of The Division 2 will definitely want to reach World Tier 5. The enemies will be even tougher in World Tier 5, however, so you’d better watch out.
How to unlock The Division 2 Tidal Basin Invaded Mission
As stated above, The Division 2 Tidal Basin Invaded Mission and World Tier 5 is live right now. After installing the latest 1.05 update, you will be able to unlock the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission and later, World Tier 5.
In order to unlock the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission, you will need to have reached player level 30. You will then need to work your way through World Tiers 1, 2, 3, and 4. This will involve completing quite a few difficult Invaded Missions and Strongholds across each Word Tier. Finally, in order to complete World Tier 4 you will need to finish off the Capitol Building Stronghold and Roosevelt Island Stronghold Missions. This will then unlock a brand-new Side-Mission. You will need to complete this Side-Mission in order to unlock the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission. Completing the Tidal Basin Invaded Mission will unlock World Tier 5.
Now get out there, Agents, and fulfill your potential. There are tons of new, exciting loot out there for you to find. World Tier 5 is currently the highest level of The Division 2 endgame there is. Who knows, though? Perhaps we’ll see a World Tier 6 before long? Of course, we’ll be there waiting to tell you all about it.
Tom Clancy Franchise Tour

The Division 2 and the best and worst Tom Clancy franchises
Due to a set of circumstances only possible in our industry, the Tom Clancy name has been all over gaming. It's the first name in tactical shooters and one of Ubisoft's most valuable franchises. However, it's not all sunshine and roses. Here is the history of The Clance in video game form. -
The Hunt for Red October
In the late '80s, one of the prominent genres on home PCs were tense strategy games. Since graphics hadn't evolved as of yet, games, where you played in the theater of the mind, dominated the landscape. What better subject than the tense thrillers of Tom Clancy for these types of experiences? -
The Sum of All Fears
In 1996, Tom Clancy co-founded Red Storm Entertainment after seeing these early successes. Ubisoft subsequently purchased the studio in 2000 after establishing a working relationship with them. Ubisoft then purchased the Tom Clancy name outright for use in video games in 2006. By then, games tying into Clancy's movie successes just weren't enough. -
Rainbow Six
Originally based on one of Clancy's novels, the Rainbow Six series encompasses 17 distinct releases across multiple platforms. Each game features tactical first-person shooting and aspires to be a military simulation. This style peaked with a pair of Vegas titles released on Xbox 360. -
Rainbow Six Siege
After spending several years developing a follow-up to Vegas entittled Patriots, Ubisoft went a different way. Rainbow Six Siege is a multiplayer-focused endeavor with Overwatch-style heroes as its operatives. Although it started off on the wrong foot, constant improvements have made it one of the most popular shooters going. -
Ghost Recon
The second set of Clancy tactical shooters, Ghost Recon differentiates itself with its third-person gameplay and its large outdoor environments. There have been fourteen Ghost Recon releases, ranging from the modern day to the near future. Most recently, Ghost Recon took a turn into the open world with Wildlands. -
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
A subsection of Ghost Recon, "GRAW" was one of the standout games around the Xbox 360 launch. Combining the tactics the series is known for with then-futuristic technology made for a great combination. Ubisoft would revisit the idea with a direct sequel and Future Soldier in 2012. -
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher might have been in the running as an Xbox mascot back in the good old days. A stealth action series to rival Metal Gear, Sam's adventures are classics, particularly the original trilogy. The latest in the series was Blacklist in 2013, although there have been hints that Sam might drop in again any day now. -
EndWar
Taking Tom Clancy back to full on tactics, 2008's EndWar promoted itself on its voice-operated commands. You could control the entire game with a headset, although some reviewers found that to be difficult to achieve. A sequel started development but never saw the light of day. There was a free-to-play follow-up planned but it was canceled. -
H.A.W.X.
An arcade flying game taking place in the timeline of Advanced Warfighter, H.A.W.X. is a weird fit in the Tom Clancy timeline. Two games were released in 2009 and 2010, both receiving mixed to positive reviews. A seeming stopgap in the industry while Ace Combat slumbered, this is one name we probably won't be seeing again. -
The Division
The latest Tom Clancy joint, The Division takes the gameplay structure of Destiny and brings it down to Earth. Literally. This loot shooter doesn't quite have the tactical gameplay of past titles bearing Mr. Clancy's name, but it does have the squad controls and the storyline that attempts to match his most engaging works of fiction. Well, it doesn't have great storytelling techniques but at least it has the look and feel of a Clancy game.
