Mortal Kombat 11 preorder guide

Mortal Kombat 11 Pre-order Guide | Should I preorder Mortal Kombat 11?

Mortal Kombat 11 is making its way to the three consoles and PC later this month on April 23. Known for its bloody fights and gruesome finishes, the Mortal Kombat series is one of the longest running franchises in gaming. With the latest installment coming out soon, it is not too late to pre-order your copy of Mortal Kombat 11. In our Mortal Kombat 11 pre-order guide, we take a look at all the different editions that are available and see what they have to offer. Our goal is that after you’ve seen what each edition has to offer, you can then answer the question, should I pre-order Mortal Kombat 11?

Mortal Kombat 11 Standard Edition pre-order price and contents

The Standard Edition is well, fairly standard. It comes with the base game and access to Shao Khan as a playable character in Mortal Kombat 11. Additionally, if you pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 (any version) through GameStop, you will receive an exclusive Tin and Scorpion Neck Wrap, which can be seen in the picture above. While this isn’t much, it is still nice to receive a small reward for a game that you’re already planning to buy.

Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition pre-order price and contents

Mortal Kombat 11 Preorder

The Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 11 is understandably a little bit pricier than the Standard Edition, but you get a couple of great items to go along with it. Alongside the base game, will get the same things as the Standard Edition, plus you will get a Kombat Pack (all platforms) and an Exclusive Steelbook (Xbox One and PlayStation 4 only). The Kombat Pack includes six new playable DLC characters, one-week early access to all of those characters, seven exclusive character skins, and seven sets of gear. If you’re a big fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise, some of these Mortal Kombat 11 pre-order bonuses are pretty sweet.

Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition pre-order price and Contents

There is a pretty steep price jump from the Premium Edition and the Kollector’s Edition for Mortal Kombat 11. The Kollector’s Edition is a GameStop exclusive and includes the base game, Kombat Pack, Exclusive Steelbook, Exclusive Dragon Logo Magnet, and a 1:1 scale Scorpion Mask. The Scorpion Mask is definitely the reason that the Kollector’s Edition is a bit more expensive. The Mask is flat out legit and is only available when you pre-order the Kollector’s Edition. Standing at almost 14″, the Scorpion Mask is essentially a 3D bust and looks totally out of this world. You can see the Scorpion Mask, along with the rest of the Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition items in the picture above.

Do I need to pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 to get beta access?

Mortal Kombat 11 Preorder

If you want beta access to Mortal Kombat 11 before it releases on April 23, you’ll need to pre-order it. If you pre-order any edition, you’ll receive beta access to the game. The beta is only available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The first Mortal Kombat 11 beta access period ran from March 27-31, it is unclear if there will be another beta period before launch or not. So if you missed out on this one, you’ll want to go ahead and pre-order it in case there is another beta period announced before the launch of Mortal Kombat 11.

Should I pre-order Mortal Kombat 11?

Mortal Kombat 11 Preorder

If you already plan to buy the game, I see no reason why you shouldn’t pre-order Mortal Kombat 11. Even if you only want the Standard Edition, you’re going to get access to Shao Khan, beta access, and an exclusive Tin and Scorpion Neck Wrap (if you pre-order through GameStop). So if you go ahead and pre-order it, you’re getting three things that you wouldn’t get if you just go out and buy the Standard Edition on launch day.

Additionally, the Premium Edition is a nice medium between the Standard Edition and the Kollector’s Edition. You get some extra stuff and don’t have to fork over too much extra cash. With the Premium Edition, you’re not only going to get the nice steelbook case, but you’re also going to get the 14 extra in-game items. Most notably, you’re going to get a Kombat Pack, which will give you six new playable DLC characters and a week’s worth of early access to each of them. Nothing feels better than having early access to something that is highly anticipated by the community.

Last but not least, the Kollector’s Edition is probably only for the most hardcore fans, mostly because of its expensive price tag. However, if you’re willing to hand over the money, you’ll get some pretty cool stuff. You get everything included in the Premium Edition, plus a Dragon Logo Magnet, and a Scorpion Mask. The magnet looks pretty cool, but the Scorpion Mask is definitely the centerpiece. Not only is it incredibly cool looking, but it is also a life-sized replica that would make any collector happy.

That wraps up our Mortal Kombat 11 pre-order guide! Hopefully, by now you have a good idea of what is included in all of the different editions of Mortal Kombat 11, and have decided which is the right fit for you! Mortal Kombat 11 will be releasing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 23.
