Outer Wilds Upgrade Jetpack Oxygen Tank

Outer Wilds | Can you upgrade your jetpack and oxygen tank?

In Outer Wilds, your jetpack and oxygen are your life. Run out of juice in either, and you’re pretty much done for. Your reserves of these resources are meager, so it makes sense that you’d want the ability to carry more to make your journey a bit easier. However, whether you can upgrade your jetpack or get a bigger oxygen tank in Outer Wilds isn’t something the game makes clear.

Can you upgrade your jetpack to carry for fuel or get a bigger oxygen tank in Outer Wilds?

Unfortunately, we haven’t found a way to carry more jetpack fuel or oxygen in Outer Wilds. You’re stuck with the same amount for the entire game as far as we can tell. However, we can confirm that even if you get into a situation where you think you don’t have enough oxygen or jetpack fuel that there’s always a way around these limitations.

The thing to keep in mind while playing Outer Wilds is that you need to conserve your resources as much as possible. This means not spending time outside your ship that you don’t have to. Don’t be afraid to burn a time loop scouting a location before you commit to fully exploring it.

It would help if you also kept in mind locations where you can refill your oxygen and fuel. One way to always find these resources is by visiting another Outer Wilds astronaut. The places you find the astronauts always have trees nearby to top up your oxygen and fuel cylinders to refill your jetpack.

Out of the two resources, oxygen is the most vital as you instantly die if you run out. This means you should always be on the lookout for trees. You’ll get a message on your HUD when trees are nearby and your oxygen tank refills, so just make a mental note when you run into them.
