Candy Crush Saga Tips and Tricks For Hardcore Candy-Matching

Candy Crush Saga Tips

Like actual confectionary, Candy Crush Saga quickly becomes and addiction that's hard to kick. Despite its simple match-three premise, CCS deceptively combines simply, understandable gameplay mechanics with a very real difficulty curve. Here are a few tips to carry you through to gum drop lane or wherever it is you're actually going on the bus.

Take your time and think.

I know when you've got a sugar rush you can easily blast off in any number of the 360 directions around you at any given moment, but please calm down and wrap your brain around the ever more challenging levels in front of you. There are only so many turns available to you on one of CCS's levels, so wasting them is no joke.

In fact, the developers behind Candy Crush Saga know that you're an eager gamer hoping to blow through a level before your boss notices you're not actually working. The hints that jump out at you are not always the best moves to make, so resist the urge to instinctively swap pieces that just happen to be taunting you with their delicious, tappable shells.

Think. Think about the moves you WANT to make. Think about which colors are predominant on screen and where you might be able to score a super-piece of candy by combining more than just three pieces. Think about all the different ways more than three pieces can fit together. Think about how you might combine two vertical and two horizontally oriented pieces by sliding a piece into a corner slot. Seriously. Think before you make a move.

Always match four or more.

There will be plenty of times where you truly don't have a move to make that combines four or more candies. As frequently as they come, they should feel like failures on your part every single time. I know that's harsh, but we're talking about beating your friends mercilessly and wiping them from the Game Center leader board. This is important!

Even if you have already resigned yourself to making a move that only matches three candies, make sure it opens up a move that allows you to match four or more. Three-piece moves only serve to move the board around and open up new opportunities to you, so use them that way. Plan moves, count spaces, and get four or more pieces together at once.

Pay to win.

If all else fails and you really just suck at this game, I guess you could pay money to win. You can buy boosters (ranging from $1-$2 a pop) or Charms (which are a lot more expensive). Remember that you first have to unlock the boosters themselves before you can buy them. The Jelly Fish adds jelly fish to the board, allowing you to match three and remove as you please. Extra Moves booster gives you five more moves to complete a puzzle. The Lollipop Hammer lets you smash candy to remove it from your board.

Even one of the Charms (Charm of Life) costs over $15 alone! You must really love this game if you start to get that itch to whip our your credit card and put more money into the App Store. As much as these monetary leg-ups will help you, I really don't think it's a good idea. You're breaking the game and any victory you earn will feel cheap compared to what you could have felt beating a tough level.

Be patient, use the tips above, and eat some more candy!
