What is a Reverse Boost?

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game’s matchmaking system tries to pair you with players of a similar level. This skill-based matchmaking system will put you up against players who have been playing at similar levels in terms of kill/death ratios, at least in recent matches. Because of this, if you have been doing particularly well in your last few matches, you might find the third or fourth contains better opponents. Reverse boosting is your way of bringing the player level down again.

How to Reverse Boost

Reverse boosting isn’t an entirely noble thing to do. Essentially, you will purposefully suck in one game so you might get easier opponents in the next. Bringing your kill/death ratio down is a surefire way of helping you to receive easier opponents or enemies who operate at a closer skill level to your own.

If you manage to bring your average kill/death ratio down, you should get paired with players on a similar average skill level.  You will need to switch lobbies for this tactic to work, however. Whether you want to or not, you will stay with at least a few of the same teammates and opponents if you remain in a lobby.

To reduce your kill/death ratio, you will need to die as many times as possible without killing opponents. As we said above, it’s far from a noble tactic and you may end up blacklisted by your teammates, but reverse boosting is a simple process.
