Fortnite Servers Not Responding: When Will It Be Back Up and Online?

If you’ve been attempting to play Epic Games’ battle royale game this morning, then you’ve undoubtedly encountered the Fortnite Servers Not Responding error message at the main menu. This annoying roadblock is currently stopping players from accessing the game on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android ahead of Chapter 4 Season 2’s release. Here’s what you need to know about when Fortnite will be back up and online.

How to fix the Fortnite “Servers Not Responding” error

In order to ensure that there aren’t any issues with your setup preventing you from playing Fortnite, simply follow these steps:

  1. Follow the on-screen button prompt at the Fortnite main menu to retry connecting to the game servers
  2. If that doesn’t work, restart the game and try again
  3. Still no luck? Reboot your chosen device and then give it another shot
  4. Should you still be encountering issues, reset your internet router and try once again after the connection is restored
  5. If the issue persists, try connecting to a different internet network and trying again
    • Be careful not to incur unwanted data charges in the process

When will Fortnite be back up for Chapter 4 season 2?

Fortnite should be back up around 1 AM–2 AM PT and 4 AM–5 AM ET on December 10, with Epic typically taking around three hours to deploy its major updates.

With the arrival of the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 update has come downtime for players across all platforms. When attempting to boot up and play the game, it isn’t currently possible to progress past the main menu, which simply displays the ‘servers not responding message.’

Players can hit the prompted button in order to retry, but most likely it will fail no matter how many times it’s repeatedly pressed. What further options are available, then? Well, since this is a server issue it’s possible that nothing can be done on the user end to speed up the process of getting back online, but if facing this issue outside of downtime, then you can follow the above steps.

If you’re still encountering the issue, then you’ve exhausted your options and confirmed that the issue is on Epic Games’ end. You’ll just need to wait out the process and play Fortnite later.
