Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 | When will the new CoD Season launch?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) had a mixed launch, though the introduction of Season 1 was largely welcomed with open arms. It was the biggest content update in Call of Duty history, which naturally means that there are big expectations for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2. Whether or not it’ll live up to those expectations remains to be seen, but when should fans expect to get the answer to that question? Here’s what we know about a potential Modern Warfare Season 2 release date and what it might contain.

At the time of writing, neither Modern Warfare publisher Activision or developer Infinity Ward has confirmed any information regarding Season 2 or its planned release date. All we know officially is that Season 2 is in active development and will be introduced to the game at some point in the future.

Season 1 began on December 3, 2019, so if Activision is looking to maintain a similar two-month release schedule to that seen in prior Call of Duty games, we could see Season 2 implemented as early as next month. Of course, it’s also entirely possible that a February 2020 date won’t be met if the size of the update rivals that of Modern Warfare 2019’s first Season. It takes time to develop all that extra content, after all.

What will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 include?

As with Season 1, Modern Warfare Season 2 is likely to include new maps, weapons, and Operators for players to enjoy. Not only that but also new multiplayer game types, which this time around could include the long-awaited introduction of a battle royale mode. Numerous leaks have already suggested that battle royale is in the works, so kicking off 2020 with exactly what many fans have been waiting for would be a great way to ensure the game’s continued longevity.
