Can you drop weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone?

Surviving CoD: Warzone‘s 150-player battle royale mode generally requires a lot of teamwork, which is largely what makes the ping system so effective. Potentially just as useful is the ability to drop items in order to share resources between a squad, ensuring that everybody’s well-equipped for a fight. One question is sure to enter the mind of any player that’s tinkered with dropping items in Modern Warfare battle royale, though: Can you drop weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone?

Here’s what you need to know about whether or not it’s possible to share weapons with teammates in the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) Warzone mode.

Though it’d definitely be a great feature, unfortunately, it isn’t possible to drop weapons on-demand in Call of Duty: Warzone. It is possible in a roundabout sort of way, however.

Droppable items in Call of Duty: Warzone

  • Cash
  • Armor Plate
  • Ammo:
    • AR/LMG
    • Shotgun
    • Pistol/SMG
    • Launcher
    • Sniper

As you can see from the list above, it’s possible to drop and request a variety of in-game items excluding weaponry. Although it isn’t part of the game’s defined loot-sharing system, you can drop a firearm by replacing it with another found in the environment.

If, for example, you have a friend that’s killer with a shotgun you might choose to replace your shotgun with the next weapon you find either on a dead enemy or inside a loot container. Your dropped shotgun can then be pinged to notify your squadmate to its location, after which they can pick it up and make full use of it.

It might not be as graceful as you’d hope, but there is at least a workaround for dropping and sharing weapons amongst squads in Call of Duty: Warzone.
