To change your name in Clash of Clans, you need to reach the Town Hall level 5. Once you’ve unlocked the level 5 Town Hall, you can change your in-game name once, for free. If you want to change your name again, it will cost you some Gems. Each time you change your name in Clash of Clans, it will cost more Gems. Make sure you pick a name you like, else it will (literally) cost you. Below, you’ll see a list of steps to follow to change your name in Clash of Clans.

Follow these steps to discover how to change your name on Clash of Clans:

  • Unlock Town Hall level 5
  • Open the in-game Settings window
  • Select ‘More Settings’
  • Choose ‘Change Name’ from the list of options
  • Follow the on-screen instructions

Following the above steps will allow you to change your name in Clash of Clans. Remember, you can change it once for free. Every time after that will cost you Gems, which increases every time you change your name. Scabby, we know, but them’s the breaks.

There are some rules to follow for changing your Clash of Clans name:

  • Don’t use special characters
    • Symbols, emojis, etc…
  • Supercell can change any inappropriate names at any time, no compensation given

So don’t make your name inappropriate (no swearwords or the like) and you should be okay. Supercell won’t change your name upon request, either, so make sure you’re happy with your one free name change before you save it.
