What is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Nuke Event?

Something strange is going on in Call of Duty: Warzone. What is the Modern Warfare Nuke Event, exactly? In this guide, we’ll try and make sense of it all to help you understand what could be going on in Warzone. Read on to find out what might be happening in the latest CoD.

What is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Nuke Event?

Modern Warfare Nuke Event

The Nuke Event in Modern Warfare could be bringing us a new Warzone map. For a few days now, the bunkers in Call of Duty: Warzone have been opening up, revealing a nuclear device within bunker 11 on Verdansk. Along with this, we’ve also been teased with mysterious messages on the Call of Duty companion app (as per GamesRadar), and now, too, a teaser of the Nuke Event cutscene (which you can watch at the end of this guide). It’s all rather confusing but is pointing towards a couple of different outcomes, potentially both.

The mysterious bunkers opening up and supposedly revealing a nuclear weapon in the 11th bunker is likely to do with the Nuke Event. We don’t know when, but the nuke could be launched, bringing in a new Warzone map (or highly altered one) when it explodes. The Nuke Event, too, could bring in a reveal of the next Call of Duty title. This is heavily rumored to be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. VideoGamesChronicle, which has been reliable with such things in the past, has explained that the Nuke Event and bunkers could be set to reveal the game.

Based on all of this, it seems Call of Duty: Warzone is set to evolve, becoming a third pillar of the CoD model alongside new mainline games and Call of Duty: Mobile. As for when the Modern Warfare Nuke Event will take place? Initial rumors suggested May 21, 2020. Nothing happened then, so expect the Nuke Event to happen any day now.
