New Call of Duty 2020 game rumored to be Black Ops reboot

The next new Call of Duty 2020 game may very well be a Call of Duty: Black Ops reboot. What’s more, it’s speculated to be set in Vietnam during the height of the Cold War.

Noted Call of Duty YouTuber TheGamingRevolution — no relation — has detailed information about an upcoming Call of Duty game that’s anticipated to be revealed at the end of this year. Starting things off is a statement from an Activision investor call which reveals that they expect a new game to come out at the end of 2020.

“In Q4, plan to launch the next premium release of Call of Duty,” stated the investor call. “We can’t wait to unveil what our teams have been working on and we feel great about the content.”

Furthermore, noted Call of Duty leaker LongSensation tweeted a mildly vague message with a Vietnam gif and a window of May 2020, implying that that’s when we would be getting a reveal.

As for the campaign of this rumored new Call of Duty 2020 game, it’s expected to be set in Vietnam during the Cold War. It’s going to be doing things a little differently than recent CoD games, though. According to TheGamingRevolution’s finding, it will cover the entirety of the Vietnam conflict from multiple perspectives — including the Viet Cong. This may also include appropriately-themed zombies as seen in the below image from this video

This game is also said to be “a complete reboot of the Black Ops franchise.” While odds are good that we’ll see some fan-favorite characters from the previous games, it will be much like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s handling of putting classic characters in a new story.

As for the name of this game, there’s apparently a split between two titles for the next new Call of Duty 2020 game. It may either be named Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 or they may go the Modern Warfare route and simply call it Call of Duty: Black Ops.

If LongSensation’s reveal prediction holds true, we’ll be hearing more about the next game in the CoD franchise in the next couple of months. For now, at least we can enjoy Modern Warfare and Warzone. Check out TheGamingRevolution’s video for more details.
