How to get the Slug Buster in Fallout 76

Fallout 76 has a number of rare items for you to find or unlock. Unfortunately, some of them are tied into specific faction quests. Players who side with the Raiders will eventually be able to access the Slug Buster, a unique plasma rifle. However, its appearance is brief, making it one of the game’s more notorious missable items. Here’s how to get the Slug Buster in Fallout 76.

The Slug Buster is an easily-missed plasma rifle added to Fallout 76 in the Wastelanders update. The weapon ignores 50 percent of a target’s armor and allows V.A.T.S. critical shots to deal 50 percent extra damage. You can get it during the Buried Treasure quest while exploring Vault 79.

Even though the Slug Buster is acquired during one of the game’s main quests, many players have missed the chance to get it. Several things can go wrong, mainly due to the quest’s orientation with the Raiders faction. The weapon is also found near the end of the quest after Ra-Ra opens a door. In some instances, the door doesn’t open, or Ra-Ra fails to appear. Other times players simply don’t notice the rifle sitting out after passing through the final door. If you’re working through Buried Treasure, be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Aside from a few key stats, the Slug Buster is not much different than any other plasma rifle. It deals 29 physical and electrical damage, and besides ignoring armor and dealing extra critical damage, it also features 90 percent reduced weight. Available modifications improve hip-fire accuracy and recoil, and the weapon can also be equipped with a medium night vision scope.

If you want to get the Slug Buster in Fallout 76, pay special attention during the Buried Treasure quest. You should be able to spot the weapon shortly after allowing Ra-Ra to open the final door to the Auxiliary Operations Center.
