The Destiny 2 Witherhoard has been disabled as of November 12, 2020. This means that players can not currently equip or use the Witherhoard Exotic Grenade Launcher. Bungie will disable weapons when game-breaking bugs are noticed or potentially when the balance of the game is negatively impacted. Here’s the lowdown on why the Witherhoard has been disabled in Destiny 2 and when it could come back.
Why is the Destiny 2 Witherhoard disabled?
While it is known that the Exotic Witherhoard Grenade Launcher has been disabled in Destiny 2, it is not entirely clear why Bungie has temporarily removed the weapon. There are rumors circulating online that could point to at least one reason why.
The Destiny 2 Witherhoard has been disabled because it is too powerful in Crucible mode. This is according to a comment in this Reddit thread, anyway. Unfortunately, there is no official word from Bungie on the reasoning behind the removal of Witherhoard. The Exotic Grenade Launcher could have been disabled for a number of reasons.
All Bungie has detailed (in a @BungieHelp tweet), is that “due to an issue,” Bungie has “disabled the Witheroard Exotic Grenade Launcher.” Since it has been disabled, though, players have taken online to showcase that other guns have since bugged out:

Hopefully, bugs such as these are fixed sooner rather than later.
When is the Witherhoard coming back to Destiny 2?
Players can hope that the Witherhoard will come back to Destiny 2 sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, Bungie has not given a time-frame for the Exotic Grenade Launcher’s return.
Taking to Twitter, Bungie explained that the Witherhoard has been disabled “until further notice”:
Due to an issue, we have disabled the Witherhoard Exotic Grenade Launcher until further notice.

Keep an eye out on relevant social media channels for updates on the return of the currently disabled Witherhoard to Destiny 2. Hopefully, it’s added back in soon, as those bugged out weapons since its removal (look above) can’t last long.
