The Falcon and The Winter Soldier episode 7 will technically be season 2, episode 1. The first series’ finale has already aired, with producer Kevin Feige suggesting that there are plans for a second season, though with no confirmed release date.
As a result, episode 7 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is unlikely to release until at least 2023, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe having planned its next films and shows for the next three years. As the MCU features interconnected stories, the general plot for most projects is planned out well in advance in order to ensure congruity. This means that Marvel wouldn’t create a season 2 for the show solely based on its popularity, with it needing to fit into the overarching MCU story, too.
There are release date windows for Marvel films and shows up until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with several other projects either planned or currently being filmed that have no concrete release year. These include a bevy of other Disney Plus series, including the likes of Armor Wars and Secret Invasion, which are both set to begin filming this year.
Given that several Disney Plus series are on their way and more are being filmed this year, it’s unlikely we’ll see The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season 2 any time soon. Still, with Marvel now having a new (though still unofficial) Captain America, we imagine we’ll be seeing much more of Sam and Bucky’s story in the MCU regardless.
