Mass Effect 3 best time to do the Citadel DLC

Mass Effect 3: When is the best time to do the Citadel DLC?

Mass Effect Legendary Edition lets players experience the entire original trilogy with a fresh new coat of paint. It’s now easier than ever to get to know Commander Shepard’s crewmates, with the Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC serving as an emotional final farewell. There are plenty of permutations within the expansion that can change how users experience the story. In order to see all of the content, however, it’s important to know when the best time to do the Citadel DLC in ME3 is. So, here’s the need-to-know info on when to tackle the Citadel downloadable content.

When to do the Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition Citadel DLC

Mass Effect 3 best time to do the Citadel DLC

The best time to play the Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC is right after completing the “Priority: Horizon” main story mission. Players should finish the ME3 Legendary Edition Citadel DLC at this stage to experience all of the possible content.

Users that continue to the Cerberus base in the next main mission — “Priority: Cerberus Headquarters” — will miss out on some character interactions. While opting to play the Citadel DLC just before the final mission instead won’t make a huge difference, users should definitely avoid playing it early.

Although the ME3 Citadel DLC is available to users from an early stage, playing at that point isn’t optimal. The expansion is all about bidding a fond final farewell to Commander Shepard’s crewmates and friends. Keeping that in mind, playing towards the end lends events added context before Shepard heads off to save the galaxy. Additionally, more contacts and companions are available to interact with. As such, late game is easily the best time to play Mass Effect 3’s Citadel downloadable content.

Be sure to make note of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition points of no return; miss ME3’s and the Citadel DLC will become unplayable. The same goes for the rest of the downloadable content, unfortunately. To help avoid missing anything, check out the best order to play the rest of the threequel’s expansions.
