Steam Deck 4K resolution

Is the Steam Deck 4K resolution?

Valve’s Steam Deck is a fully functioning portable PC. Considering that the base model costs just $50 more than the Nintendo Switch (OLED model), it’s an impressive proposition. News that the Switch OLED isn’t capable of outputting 3840 x 2160 pixels has proven controversial. But, is there Steam Deck 4K resolution support? Here’s the lowdown on the Steam Deck screen spec.

Does Steam Deck have a 4K screen?

Steam Deck 4K resolution

Steam Deck is capable of pushing 4K resolution graphics through a connection to an external 3840 x 2160 monitor. Natively, the handheld Steam Deck screen is 720p HD. Owing to its 16:10 aspect ratio, the exact Steam Deck resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels.

The hardware features a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Due to outputting 720p resolution at 60 FPS, the Steam Deck is capable of running many modern AAA games at high visual settings. Via the integrated USB-C port — or Valve’s upcoming proprietary dock — users can output to an external display to achieve even higher settings in some games, however.

There are three versions of the Steam Deck, with the main differentiating factor being the internal storage size and speed. The most expensive model, featuring a 512GB NVMe SSD for $649, also boasts a premium anti-glare etched glass screen. Anyone looking to get the ultimate viewing experience while out and about might want to opt for this version; while it’s still the same resolution, the image will likely appear clearer in non-optimal lighting conditions.

Steam Deck hardware pre-orders go live later today at the time of writing. Wondering where to secure one? Here’s the need-to-know info, along with more details on the hardware specs, release date, and pricing.

In other news, Resident Evil Re:Verse is facing another lengthy delay. As a result, it’s easy to wonder what Capcom has in store for the standalone RE Village multiplayer mode.
