Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers fix

Smite continues to enjoy success on Switch and PS4, but sometimes PC and Xbox One players encounter issues. Namely, network errors can result in a problem where Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers. Though it doesn’t happen often, this is actually a common error with a very simple solution.

Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live error fix

In most cases, Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers because the service is experiencing interruptions. This error seems to occur every few months, typically when Xbox Live servers are down. The connection should work again once service is restored.

First things first: If the game can’t connect to Xbox Live, don’t try to change any settings or reinstall the game. Instead, head over to Down Detector to see if other users are reporting outages. If so, there’s a very good chance that something is causing network interruptions.

When interruptions or maintenance occur, you won’t be able to connect to the game’s servers. It may be that Xbox Live is having problems, or that the Smite servers themselves are under maintenance. Either way, the issue is almost certainly server-side, meaning there’s nothing you need to do to fix the situation.

Instead, you’ll just have to wait it out. Service interruptions are annoying, but in an internet-connected world, they are common. These problems don’t affect just Smite, either; Xbox Live problems can theoretically affect any number of games on the platform.

Otherwise, you may have a problem with your local network connection. This should be fairly obvious, as you wouldn’t be able to browse the web or play other games. Hardware faults with your PC or Xbox console can also cause these sorts of errors, but again, you’d notice the problem in other software. Server outages are simply much more common.

If Smite keeps saying it cannot connect to Xbox Live servers, you’ll have to wait a while. Something is causing network interruptions, which is why the game can’t connect. Normal service should be restored once the outage or maintenance period ends and the servers are brought back online.
