Xbox Series X|S consoles can still be hard (and expensive) to come by. With the launch of Xbox Cloud Streaming for consoles, users will be able to play Xbox Series X|S games on Xbox One starting holiday 2021. The service is available exclusively for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers and targets 1080p 60 FPS performance.

How to stream games on Xbox

  1. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
  2. Navigate to “My game & apps” on the Xbox home screen.
  3. Scroll down to the “Full library” tab and then select “Xbox Game Pass.”
  4. Look for the cloud icon denoting compatible games.
  5. Select a compatible game, then hit the “Play” button.

After following the above steps, the game will launch instantly with no download, installation, or updating necessary. Of course, this also saves on storage space which is a huge secondary benefit.

Arguably the biggest deal, however, is being able to play next-gen Xbox Series X and Series S games on Xbox One hardware. By utilizing the service, eighth-generation Xbox consoles are able to play ninth-generation games. It’s a great way for players to save money, though it’s also worth noting that performance will differ depending on users’ internet speeds. Microsoft also warns that “occasional wait time may occur” when attempting to access Xbox Game Streaming on consoles.

In other news, Psychonauts 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass and is well worth a playthrough. The Slipgate beta is also available on Xbox consoles, with the mind-bending FPS currently shaping up well. Over on the PlayStation front, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut marks a “rocky first step” for Sony’s new run of remastered editions.
