iPhone M1 Chip: Does the iPhone 13 use it?

The iPhone 13 is surely going to enjoy a boost in specs over previous phones, but will it feature the M1 chip that’s currently in iPads, Macbooks, and the iMac? Here’s the need-to-know info about a possible iPhone M1 chip version and whether or not Apple is using the processor in the new iPhone for 2021.

Does the iPhone 13 use the M1 chip?

iPhone M1 Chip

The iPhone 13 will use an A15 chip, not the M1.

Reports suggest that Apple has ordered “100 million more A15 chips from TSMC” to satisfy the demand for the upcoming iPhone 13 phones (via CNET). The A15 chips would be used in the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Will there be an iPhone M1 chip version?

iPhone M1 Chip

An iPhone M1 chip version could come later down the line.

However, an iPhone M1 chip version is not expected to be revealed during 2021 and it may be a long while before Apple is looking to include that powerful process in its mobile phones. Though it is using the M1 chip in the rest of its products, the tech giant doesn’t seem interested in implementing it into the iPhone range. At least, not with the iPhone 13. Perhaps the iPhone 14 will be a better candidate in 2022?

Those disappointed to learn that an iPhone 13 M1 chip isn’t likely may want to consider just how overpowered the chip arguably is for the new iPads. It barely breaks a sweat in most applications on the tablet, so it would probably be overkill for a phone.
