Deathloop Glitching Objects: What are they and how to pick them up?

Deathloop contains a number of everyday items that appear as glitchy objects. Displaying as a sort of oily smudge, similar to slain enemies, most players wonder what these are for; is it possible to use, collect, or pick up these glitching items? So, here is the need-to-know info on the mysterious Deathloop glitching objects found in Arkane’s time-bending PS5 and PC title.

How to use glitching objects in Deathloop

Here’s how to use glitchy items in Deathloop:

  1. Complete “The Longest Day” Visionary Lead.
  2. Beat the “Ubiquity” Arsenal Lead to unlock the Infusion mechanic.
  3. Players can now interact with glitching objects to absorb Residuum.

Essentially, just keep progressing through the main story campaign and all will become clear. Glitchy items seemingly appear at random around levels, encouraging players to continue exploring with each new daily loop. Completionists will want to seek out plenty of these ethereal items in order to earn 20,000 Residuum in a single level, bagging the Residual Earnings Trophy or Achievement in the process.

By spending Residuum, players can avoid losing gear for good at the start of each loop; any weapon, upgrade, etc. that isn’t subject to Infusion is lost forever at the start of a new run. By collecting and spending Residuum, however, users can preserve elements of their loadout and start building an arsenal in Deathloop. Infusion is key to growing in power and, ultimately, breaking the time loop to achieve Colt’s goal.

There’s still time to claim some free Deathloop DLC for anyone that missed the opportunity before launch. Bethesda is giving away some free character and weapon cosmetics simply by joining the Arkane Outsiders group.

Deathloop made an appearance at the recent PlayStation Showcase, but it wasn’t the only big title on display. Sony also showcased more of God of War: Ragnarok and a first look at Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
