Red Faction

Where was Red Faction at the THQ Nordic showcase?

Anticipation for a new Red Faction game was sky-high going into today’s THQ Nordic showcase. The event celebrated a decade of THQ Nordic, following its transition from THQ in 2011. As such, fans were expecting reveals for some of THQ’s biggest franchises – and Red Faction was no exception. Read on to see whether the futuristic shooter franchise made a return at THQ Nordic’s event.

Was Red Faction announced at the THQ Nordic showcase?

Red Faction

No, we’ve got bad news for Red Faction fans: today’s THQ Nordic showcase contained no new information about the future of the franchise.

While THQ Nordic hadn’t explicitly stated that the franchise would be making an appearance at the show, fan expectations were certainly high. The showcase was billed as containing announcements from “legendary franchises” from their history – and as such, the Red Faction name unsurprisingly cropped up. Equally, they teased news from franchises “for which fans have been waiting decades” for new entries. Clearly, fans had every right to feel optimistic.

However, THQ Nordic had nothing to say regarding the series. There were six announcements in total, none of which mentioned the sci-fi shooter franchise. As such, it means fans are once again clamoring to hear about the series’ future. The last mainline entry was 2011’s Red Faction: Armageddon, which underperformed commercially. As such, THQ—as it was known at the time—announced they wouldn’t be making future entries. There was a release in 2018, a remaster of 2009’s Red Faction: Guerrilla, but it’s been silence since then.

There is some hope though, as PCGamer reported leaks from a 2019 Nvidia hack revealed a game called Red Faction: Evolution was supposedly due for announcement at E3 2019. Of course, that didn’t happen – but it does suggest a game was in the works. It’s unclear whether that’s still the case, especially following the silence at today’s showcase. Nonetheless, it gives fans of the franchise reason to hope, even when THQ Nordic are feeding them scraps.

In other news, we’ve compiled all the leaks and spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home, if you want to learn as much as possible about the movie.
