Here’s how to get and use the Halo Infinite grappling hook (Grappleshot) on Xbox and PC:

  1. Locate and pick up the Grappleshot during a multiplayer match.
    • It isn’t possible to equip a grappling hook in a standard loadout.
    • The Grappleshot usually spawns in the middle of a map.
  2. Aim at a surface and press RB to grapple on Xbox Series X, Series S, and Xbox One.
  3. Do the same, but press the Q key to grapple on PC (Steam and Game Pass).
  4. It’s possible to grab weapons and objectives (like flags) by aiming at and grappling those.
  5. While grappling, move to change momentum and swing on the rope.
  6. During a grapple, jump at any time to abort the maneuver early.

The Halo Infinite grappling hook contains just three shots before running out. Grappleshots don’t boast much horizontal range, though are great for vertical traversal in the latest Halo title.

While traversal using the Grappleshot can be a lot of fun, using its grapple function to secure power weapons and objectives is perhaps the best option. Grappling a flag in Capture the Flag mode can be an enormous help to the team, often swinging matches to help secure victory in a stylishly effortless fashion.
