The Last of Us Part 1 PS5 Pre-order Guide: Should I Get the Standard or Firefly Edition of the Remake?

The Last of Us Part 1 pre-order info leaked earlier today, and there are two versions of the game to choose from. While the base game comes with both versions, there are some goodies that will make fans want to buy The Last of Us Part 1 Firefly Edition. We’ll go into info on pricing and contents for both versions of the game below.

How to pre-order The Last of Us Part 1

As of writing, Sony has unfortunately taken down The Last of Us Part 1 pre-orders. However, you should be able to use the links below to reach the listings once they go live again at 8 p.m. PDT/11 p.m. EDT according to PlayStation Blog.

Note that the Firefly Edition is a PlayStation Direct exclusive. However, the standard version should show up at multiple retailers.

What’s the difference between The Last of Us Part 1 Standard Edition and Firefly Edition

The standard edition of The Last of Us Part 1 comes with the game in a regular PS5 case and retails for $69.99.

The Last of Us Part 1 Firefly Edition comes with the game as well as the following:

  • Limited edition SteelBook
  • The Last of Us: American Dreams #1-#4 comics reprint with new cover art
  • Early in-game unlocks

The description for both versions of the game is:

“Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards and now rebuilt for PlayStation 5.

Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”

Fortunately, we don’t have long to wait to get our hands on The Last of Us Part 1. The PS5 version drops on September 2, 2022, and a PC port is also in development.
