The Junji Ito Maniac release date isn’t terribly far off, and fans are pumped to see the horror icon’s works turned into an anime. Unfortunately, hearing that it’s airing on Netflix caused anxiety for some fans since the streaming service hasn’t been consistent with its anime releases in the past. However, it seems like, in this case, things won’t be too complicated.
When will Junji Ito Maniac release on Netflix?
The Junji Ito Maniac release date will be sometime in 2023. The series will adapt 20 of Ito’s stories that have never been animated before. So, we know that there won’t be any crossover with Junji Ito Collection, which aired in 2018 on Crunchyroll.
So far, we know five stories that are being adapted:

There will also be stories from Tomie, Soichi, and The Hanging Balloons, but specifics haven’t been revealed about them yet. Curiously, all the announced stories save for one can be found in Museum of Terror vol. 3, so we may see more works from that collection appear.
Fortunately, even though Junji Ito’s Maniac won’t release until 2023, another animation based on his works is coming to Adult Swim. After several delays, Uzimaki should be debuting in October 2022.
