Your first order of business in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is to locate and complete four shrines. As described in the tutorial, these are best located by heading up to the first tower and using binoculars to find and mark the shrines, which have a red glow at their entrance (this glow turns blue once the shrine has been visited).
A lot of players have trouble finding all four shrines, with the Southeast and Southwest locations being the most difficult to travel to.
The four shrines have been circled in the image below. Here’s how you get to them:
- North: You can visit this shrine directly on-foot without problems.
- East: After entering the ruins, head southeast until you reach the second enemy turret. You will then need to scale up a short wall just west of the cliffside while the turret charges up a shot to fire at you.
- Southeast: You will need to knock down a tree near an NPC before crossing the ravine. This is best performed using an axe, which can be found nearby. Climb up the large cliffside on the other side to arrive at the shrine.
- Southwest: Head West through the Forest of Spirits. Your goal is to get to the icy waterfall on the West side of the starting area, which you can cross. This area is cold, so it’s recommended that you cook peppers to increase your cold resistance. After crossing the waterfall, head west slightly and go up and around the hill to find the shrine. If you have any trouble, check out our dedicated guide for getting to this shrine here.
