Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Sword Location and Explanation

The Master Sword is considered one of gaming's most coveted weapons. Link has used the weapon for three decades, making it symbolic of his heroism and perhaps even the game itself.

As with prior Zelda games, in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild you can obtain the Master sword, but it will require some work.

Located on the north side of the map near Great Hyrule Forest, the Master sword is an unbreakable weapon. Although it doesn't need to be replaced like other weapons from wear and tear, it does need to be charged by unequipping it occasionally.

The sword is obtained similar to the legendary Excalibur, pulled from a block of stone. Although you can visit the sword early in the game, there is one major requirement: you need 13 hearts.

Hearts are earned throughout the game as you complete shrines and successfully progress through the story. Note that these hearts must be permanent, rather than the temporary hearts you can gain from some foods.

The specific location can be seen as a red dot in the map below.

As a quick aside, we didn't include an image of the Master Sword as to not spoil it. :)
