Apex Legends 120 FPS Update

Apex Legends 120 FPS PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: Does It Have High Frame Rate Mode?

Apex Legends 120 FPS on next-gen consoles has been requested by fans since the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launched. Respawn Entertainment has teased a high frame rate update to the popular free-to-play battle respawn a few times. So if you’ve got a TV that supports 120 FPS, you might be wondering if Apex Legends has a graphical mode on consoles that is finally compatible with it.

Is there a Apex Legends 120 FPS mode on consoles?

Unfortunately, Apex Legends still does not support 120 FPS on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. At the moment, the game is still locked at 60 FPS on high-end consoles.

This is in comparison to the PC version of Apex Legends that does support 120 FPS. As you might suspect, this has been a sticking point for many players given that the game features crossplay across PC and consoles. Console players say that they are at a major disadvantage to PC players, though the game attempts to compensate for this by including a built-in aim assist system for the console version.

Even now, a 120 FPS console update is a highly requested feature by fans. A Reddit thread posted on February 7, 2023 asks why it hasn’t happened yet, especially since other games like Borderlands 3, Modern Warfare 2, Fortnite, and Overwatch 2 are all capable of running at 120 FPS on consoles.

One of the last times we heard the developer promise “120hz gameplay” was in a March 2022 post about the Warriors Collection Event. We can only hope that this means that Respawn is still working on it.
