Destiny 2 Character Creation 2023

Destiny 2 Character Creation Update 2023: Can You Change Gender, Hairstyle, or Skin Color After Starting Yet?

If you’ve been away from Destiny 2 for a while and are jumping back in with the release of Lightfall, you might want to enter character customization again. After all, some people go a year or more without playing, and your tastes might have changed in that time. We’ll take a look at whether Bungie has updated the character creator in 2023 and whether you can change your gender, skin color, or hairstyle once you start the game.

Can you enter Destiny 2 character customization after starting the game in 2023?

Unfortunately, you still can’t customize your character after starting Destiny 2. The game has been out for almost six years, and fans have repeatedly asked to be able to customize gender, skin color, hairstyle, and other settings at any point instead of just when you start a new save slot. Unfortunately, however, the studio is unwilling or unable to add that functionality.

It’s odd that a character creator update hasn’t been released for Destiny 2. The studio quickly points out how inclusive it is, but character customization doesn’t back that up. If, for example, you’re trans and you want your character to reflect the gender you’re transitioning to, you’re out of luck.

There may be a technical limitation holding Bungie back from allowing character customization at any time in Destiny 2. If that’s the case, Destiny 3 isn’t in development, so we may not see the series get the feature for years.
