Sons of the Forest Lock Doors

Sons of the Forest Lock Doors: Is There a Way To Keep Enemies From Opening Doors?

There’s no way to lock doors in Sons of the Forest. The game is in early access, so it’s to be expected that some things are missing. However, it’s a major pain that there’s no way to keep enemies from walking through your doors like they own the place. Right now, the only completely safe alternative is not to use doors.

Can you lock doors in Sons of the Forest to keep enemies from opening them?

You can’t lock doors in Sons of the Forest as of launch. Unfortunately, right now, enemies can open your doors and walk right through just like you or your NPC buddies can. It’s incredibly disappointing to spend hours hauling logs to make a defensive wall to see there’s no gate in the game yet. Instead, you must build a regular door to get in and out of your fort. Finally, you think you’ve finally got a safe place to store gear, only to find that cannibals and mutants can just walk in the front door.

The only thing you can do to completely prevent enemies from walking into your base in Sons of the Forest is to not use a door at all. However, since the construction system is freeform, you can take advantage of the AI’s pathfinding issues and create a bit of an obstacle course for them. If you still want to use doors to get in and out of your base, make 3-4 layers of them.

Enemies have trouble finding their way through one door, and putting a few before your main entrance will give you plenty of time to take them out. This works even better if you built a catwalk along your walls. If you do this, you can just fire arrows down into your confused foes.
