Destiny 2 Season Pass Increase Silver Prices

Destiny 2 Season Pass Price Increase, Silver Prices Controversy Explained

The Destiny 2 season pass price increase has caused quite a stir, particularly among fans frustrated with the silver prices. Players are annoyed after Bungie revealed that it would be raising the season pass price from 1,000 Silver to 1,200 Silver in a blog post on May 4. This seemingly minor increase, though, has made fans squint their eyes at the developer. Here’s why this is causing a bit of a controversy.

Why are fans annoyed with Destiny 2 silver prices now?

Fans are frustrated with Destiny 2 silver prices because it doesn’t match the new 1,200 Silver price tag for the season pass.

Currently, players can purchase Silver in various bundles. It costs $4.99 for 500 Silver, $9.99 for 1,000 Silver (+100 bonus Silver), and $19.99 for 2,000 Silver (+300 bonus). And therein lies the conundrum.

Players could easily pay the original 1,000 Silver price for the season price just by buying the $9.99 bundle. Now, unless they’ve got some Silver left over in their wallet, they have to purchase the $19.99 bundle to cover the small difference. On top of that, buying the $19.99 bundle for 2,300 Silver can’t outright purchase two Season Passes for 2,400 Silver.

Reactions to this awkward pricing have not been positive to say the least. Users on the Destiny 2 subreddit are unhappy with how the season pass price works out. For one user, it feels like the new cost is manipulative.

Bungie can fix this in multiple ways. The easiest would be to introduce a new microtransaction that will make it simpler to get 1,200 Silver, or to provide an option to purchase the Season Pass outright without Silver currency.
