Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Save Editor

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Save Editor: How Do They Work?

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom save editor has become a way to edit the save files for the game mainly for the purpose of cheats. We won’t be linking to these save editors and we don’t endorse them, especially since they might not be safe and TotK already has an item duplication glitch that you can use for infinite rupees and materials. That said, they do allow players to modify a lot of Link’s core attributes and add weapons and equipment to Link’s inventory. So in case you’re curious about them, here’s how the save editors for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom work.

How the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom save editor works

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom save editor works by altering the variables in the game’s save file.

The various save editors available on the internet, which you can find with a quick Google search, take the save file from the emulated version of the game (so not the official Nintendo Switch version) and changes certain values to give players certain items and boosts that many times they couldn’t normally obtain in the game.

So far, the save editors seen can give Link more swords, bows, shields, and armor, activate specific Skyview Towers across the map, and increase Link’s rupees, max stamina, and maximum hearts. A few other save editors can increase Link’s inventory size and add key items that players usually can’t get until they have completed the proper quest in the main story. Still, that’s really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to altering the game files like this.

Of course, it’s recommended that you backup the original save for the game in a different place before you start using a save editor to change things around. It’s unclear whether changing values or adding items may corrupt the save file later down the line, especially when it comes to having key items before you’re supposed to have them. It’s up to you how much risk you’re willing to take with what these save editors are capable of changing.
