To upgrade outfits in AC Mirage, you have to first visit a tailor. There are many of them scattered around Baghdad and are marked by a small needle and thread icon. There is no way to upgrade from the pause menu, so you will have to find and talk to a tailor to upgrade your outfits.

Upgrading outfits requires leather and steel ingots. Leather and steel ingots can be gotten in a few different ways, including pilfering small chests and finishing many of the various contracts. Given how upgrades can be quite expensive, it is wise to open as many small chests as you can find.

Each outfit piece also require specific upgrade schematics. These are locked away in various gear chests around the map (which are the gold chest icons) or given away through some special contracts. Most outfits have two levels and, therefore, two upgrade schematics. The chests also do not specify what’s inside, so you will have to search around for the specific ones you want.

Unlike weapons, upgrading the outfits only levels up the perk associated with them. For example, the Initiate of Alamut outfit means Basim makes 50% less noise when assassinating someone at level 1, but makes 75% less noise and 100% less noise at level 2 and level 3, respectively.

Costumes are a little bit different and can’t be upgraded. These are in a separate menu and act more like skins than sets of armor. They are the game’s unique (and more limited) take on a transmog system.
