The Sims Barbie Legacy Challenge Rules Explained

The Sims 4 Barbie Legacy Challenge is a set of fan-made rules intended to celebrate the iconic doll. While there’s no official collaboration between EA and Mattel, this challenge helps you bring Barbie as close to (virtual) life as possible within The Sims.

Before you get started, you’ll want to take a look at the rules explained for The Sims Barbie Legacy Challenge. It’s meant to be difficult, so don’t think it’ll be a walk in the park. You must complete ten generations worth of goals, and the money rules are particularly tight.

The Sims 4 Barbie Legacy Challenge rules

These are the rules you must follow to play The Sims 4 Barbie Legacy Challenge as described by creator Sims-Himbo:

• Your initial Sim and all her heirs must be named Barbie.
• You may use lot traits and rewards to boost skill gain.
• Any (unmodded) in-game mechanic is allowed.
• You can use the “freerealestate” cheat to buy your first house.
• Money cheats may not be used.

Unfortunately, you can’t do the Barbie Legacy Challenge with the base game unless you modify the rules yourself. The required expansion packs for the Barbie Challenge are:

• Cats & Dogs
• City Living
• Get Famous
• Get to Work
• Island Living
• Parenthood
• Spa Day (Optional)

If you want to take on the bonus generations, you’ll also need these packs:

• Cottage Living
• Horse Ranch
• Strangerville
• University

The Sims Barbie Legacy Challenge takes players through 10 generations, each highlighting an iconic Barbie. Once you complete the objectives in a generation, you’ll switch to that Barbie’s heir and start working on the next. If you manage to complete all ten generations, you win!

Generation One: Housewife Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Family-Oriented trait.
• Complete Successful Lineage aspiration.
• Max out Cooking and Parenting skills.
• Have three kids and one pet.
• Each kid must complete a child aspiration.
• All three children must be A+ students.

Generation Two: Business Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Ambitious trait.
• Max Charisma and Logic skills.
• Max Investor branch of the Business career.
• Complete the Fabulously Wealthy aspiration.

Generation Three: Pet Vet Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Cat Lover or Dog Lover trait.
• Max Veterinarian skill.
• Run a five-star clinic.
• Have a minimum of three pets and be good friends with them all.
• Complete Friend of the Animals aspiration.

Generation Four: Sea Pearl Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Child of the Ocean trait.
• Must live in Sulani.
• Max Logic and Fitness skills.
• Max Marine Biologist branch of the Conservationist career.
• Become a mermaid.
• Complete the Beach Life aspiration.

Generation Five: Gymnastics Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Active trait.
• As a teen, join the Cheer or Football team and reach the highest level.
• Max Fitness and Charisma skills.
• Max Athlete career.
• Complete Bodybuilder aspiration.

Generation Six: Best-Seller Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Creative trait.
• Max Writing skill.
• Write Book of Life and bind it to your parent.
• Use the Book of Life to bring them back from an early death successfully.
• Complete Bestselling Author aspiration.

Generation Seven: Movie Star Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have High Maintenance trait.
• Max Acting skill.
• Reach at least Proper Celebrity status.
• Have a secret affair with another actor.
• Complete Master Actress aspiration.

Generation Eight: Rockstar Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Music Love trait.
• Max Singing skill.
• Max out skill in at least two instruments.
• Max Musician branch of the Entertainer career.
• Complete World Famous Celebrity aspiration.

Generation Nine: Barbie for President

Objectives:

• Must have Self-Assured trait.
• Max Charisma skill.
• Max Politician career.
• Complete Mansion Baron aspiration.

Generation Ten: Barbie in Space

Objectives:

• Must have the Genius trait.
• Max Logic and Rocket Science skills.
• Visit SIXAM at least once and bring back a souvenir.
• Complete the Nerd Brain aspiration.

Optional Barbie Challenge Generations

You win the challenge if you complete the tenth generation of Barbies. However, if you haven’t had enough, here’s a few more suggested generations to play:

Army General Barbie

Objectives:

• Must live in Strangerville.
• Must have Erratic trait.
• Max Logic and Charisma skills.
• Max out either branch of the Military career.
• Complete Strangerville Mystery aspiration.

Countryside Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Animal Enthusiast trait.
• Max Gardening skill.
• Must make all money from selling produce.
• Must own a horse.
• Must max out all horse skills.
• Complete Country Caretaker aspiration.

Scientist Barbie

Objectives:

• Must have Genius trait.
• Max Scientist career.
• Must be abducted by aliens.
• Complete Nerd Brain aspiration.

Ultimate Barbie

Objectives:

• Set lifespan to long.
• Complete two child aspirations.
• Complete all Renaissance Sim and Academic aspirations.
• Have 12+ traits.
• Max out 10 skills.
• Graduate college.
• Max out one career.
• Have at least five kids and max relationship with them.
• Have a household worth over 1 million Simoleons.
