Lethal Company: Can Monsters Hear You Talking via Mic?

Lethal Company‘s monsters are terrifying, and given that the game has players communicating via voice chat, many are inevitably concerned that these enemies can hear them speaking. So can Lethal Company’s creatures hear players talking over their mic, or are they safe to talk freely with their companions as they seek to salvage scrap from alien worlds?

Can Lethal Company’s monsters hear players speaking?

Some Lethal Company monsters can hear players speaking; others cannot. The bestiary contains detailed information about all monsters’ strengths and weaknesses.

Not all monsters in Lethal Company can hear your voice chat conversations, but many will be able to hunt you down if you speak too loudly. For example, the Eyeless Dog relies on its hearing to hunt its prey, meaning it will attack if players are talking loudly or running around next to the monster.

Fortunately, players can see all of this information in the bestiary. The bestiary can be found in your ship’s terminal — the computer you use to travel to different moons and purchase items from the store. Here’s how to find out which monsters can hear you:

  1. Right-click to scan monsters
  2. Access your ship’s terminal
  3. Type ‘bestiary’ to access the bestiary
  4. Select the scanned monster you want to learn more about
  5. Read the description to check if they rely on audio to hear their prey

While the bestiary doesn’t supply players with a quick and easy answer to avoid every monster, reading each entry provides enough clues to let you know how to handle them. This includes letting you know if a monster has sensitive hearing, indicating that you need to be quiet when navigating around them as you look for more scrap to sell. Make sure you check out the bestiary after scanning each new monster to learn how to deal with them — and to know if you need to tip-toe around certain enemies in order to escape unscathed.
