Does Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League Have a Single-Player Offline Mode?

The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League servers are continuing to go down, so many wonder if a single-player offline mode is available. After all, if you’re just playing alone, it would make sense not to go online to play. Unfortunately, it’s becoming increasingly common for games to be always online, even when players have no intention of using multiplayer functions.

Is there a Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League offline mode for single-player?

Unfortunately, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League currently doesn’t have an offline mode. According to the developers (via VGC), a post-launch update will add the option to play single-player without an internet connection at some point, but for now, the game is always online.

It’s evident that Suicide Squad’s development has been fraught with issues, so it’s no surprise that offline mode isn’t available at launch. The game saw two considerable delays, from a 2022 launch window to early 2023, to May 26, 2023, and finally to February 2, 2024. The plans to add an offline mode were revealed only a month before launch, so it likely wasn’t part of Rocksteady’s original plans.

It’s possible the studio expected a poor reception (explaining why it didn’t send out early review codes) and doesn’t anticipate the servers being live for an extended period. Offering an offline mode would enable them to keep selling copies of the game after online support ends.

However, Suicide Squad could have used the offline single-player at launch. The servers have been down multiple times since the game was released into early access, including once for a bug that automatically completed the game for you as soon as you loaded it. Kill the Justice League seems to be an ignominious end for the Arkham series and another example of why it’s not a good idea to shoehorn Games as a Service elements into every title.
