Glyphs in Last Epoch, Glyph of Insight

Last Epoch: How to Craft Glyph of Insight

The Glyph of Insight in Last Epoch is a crafter’s dream and enigma. This rare material unlocks the potential for powerful experimental affixes on your gear, but its acquisition and use involve a unique set of challenges.

How to Craft the Glyph of Insight in Last Epoch

The Glyph of Insight is a byproduct of using Runes of Research in Last Epoch. These Runes themselves are rare drops from Exiled Mages found in Rune Prisons within the Monolith of Fate. To maximize your chances, target Empowered Monoliths with high Corruption stacks.

Once you have Runes of Research, use them while crafting any item. There’s a 45% chance you’ll get a Glyph of Insight instead of the usual crafting outcome.

What is the Glyph of Insight?

Think of the Glyph of Insight as a wildcard in your crafting. It transforms a regular prefix on Gloves, Belts, or Boots into a special “experimental affix.” These experimental affixes grant unique bonuses but often come with specific conditions to activate their power.

Understanding the Glyph’s Power

Unlike regular crafting, the exact affix you receive isn’t random. Instead, it depends on the inherent properties of the Gloves, Belts, or Boots you use the Glyph on. Here’s a breakdown of how each equipment slot interacts with the Glyph:

  • Gloves: The total tier of all other affixes on the Gloves determines the experimental affix. This means strategically crafting your Gloves beforehand can influence the outcome. Here is an example:
    • If the combined tier of your existing affixes on the Gloves is low, you might get an Experimental Ward per Missing Health affix, offering defensive benefits based on how injured you are.
  • Belts: The item level requirement of the Belt influences the resulting affix. This opens up interesting possibilities for planning your character’s progression.
  • Boots: The Forging Potential value of the Boots dictates the experimental affix. Forging Potential is an internal value assigned to crafted equipment during the crafting process. It’s not a visible stat and doesn’t directly affect the item’s base stats.
