Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Where to go first

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree: Where Should I Go First in the DLC?

When you begin Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you’ll likely wonder what you should do first. Just like in the base game, you’re thrust into a vast world with no instructions, and it’s up to you to figure out what to do. Once again, FromSoftware is subtly pushing you in the right direction, and we’ll show you where your first destination should be below.

Where’s the first place I should go in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Where to go first map

Figuring out where to go first in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree isn’t too arduous of a task. While you can head in any direction you want, the first part of the story can be found due north of the Gravesite Plain site of grace.

After you arrive in the Land of Shadow, head due north, and you’ll soon spy a road. If you follow it north, you’ll find the Scorched Ruins (and its corresponding site of grace). Continue, and you’ll spot the first of Miquella’s Crosses at the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace.

At Three-Path Cross, you’ll find some of Miquella’s followers that Needle Knight Leda mentioned in Mohg’s Palace. They’ll point you west toward Belurat, Tower Settlement. Head that way and pass under the stone arch to find another of Miquella’s Crosses and the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace.

At this grace, you’ll find two more of Miquella’s followers. After speaking with them, you can enter Belurat, one of the expansion’s legacy dungeons and your first major destination.

Do I have to go to Belurat first?

Of course, this is a FromSoftware game, so Belurat doesn’t have to be your first destination in Shadow of the Erdtree. We won’t spoil it here, but if you explore, you can find a way to bypass both Belurat and Castle Ennis, your second major destination in the expansion.

Keep in mind that the Land of Shadow is more vertical in construction than the Lands Between and that whenever you reach a dead end, you should look up and down to see if there’s more to explore.
