Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) Season One has been extended, which, of course, also means that Season Two has been delayed. Whether that’s good or bad news depends on your interpretation, but we can likely all agree that the Crossbow weapon being added is great news. If you enjoy a stealthy approach or the simple satisfaction of bringing a bow to a gunfight and coming out on top, here’s what you need to know about how to unlock the Crossbow in Modern Warfare.
How to get the Modern Warfare Crossbow weapon
With the announcement of new content comes the initial worry that it’ll be gated off behind microtransactions. Thankfully, that isn’t the road that’s been traveled in this case; the Crossbow will be freely earnable by completing an upcoming in-game challenge.

Although no specific date has been announced for the multiplayer challenge to be added, in a recent blog post developer Infinity Ward did reveal it should happen within “the next few weeks.” Similarly, what the challenge actually entails remains to be seen, though it could be a limited-time deal so be sure to check the available CoD: Modern Warfare challenges frequently if you don’t want to miss out.
There’s plenty more content planned to launch alongside the Crossbow and its accompanying challenge, all serving to keep players entertained until Season One ends on Tuesday, February 11. A “host of new items and challenges” are promised, in addition to “2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression” events that should help to wrap up Season One the right way.
