Far Cry 4 Tops Japanese Sales Charts, Boosts PS4 Sales Slightly

Devil Survivor sits in the number one spot on this week's Japanese software sales charts, but looks can be deceiving. When you add up the PS3 and PS4 versions of Far Cry 4, you see what the actual best-selling game was. Here are the sales for Jan. 26 – Feb. 1 in Japan:

1. (3DS) Devil Survivor 2: Break Record – 53,264

2. (PS4) Far Cry 4 – 36,239

3. (PS3) Tales of Zestiria – 29,487

4. (3DS) Yokai Watch 2: Shin Uchi – 27,566

5. (3DS) Yowamushi Pedal: Ashita he no High Cadence – 20,510

6. (PS3) Far Cry 4 – 18,366

7. (3DS) Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire – 14,108

8. (WIU) Kirby and the Rainbow Curse – 12,867

9. (3DS) Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – 10,832

10. (PS4) Bladestorm: Nightmare – 10,219

11. (3DS) Super Smash Bros. – 8,878

12. (PS3) Bladestorm: Nightmare – 7,621

13. (3DS) The Legend of Legacy – 6,514

14. (WIU) Super Smash Bros. – 6,398

15. (PS3) Ukiyo no Shishi – 6,184

16. (3DS) Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+ – 5,851

17. (3DS) Yokai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke – 5,425

18. (PSV) Kurochou no Psychedelica – 5,318

19. (WIU) Mario Kart 8 – 5,103

20. (3DS) Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 4,910

Looks like the game gave PS4 a nice little boost, too. Here's the hardware chart, which shows 3DS continuing to run around uncontested and the Xbox One continuing its dive to the floor:

3DS – 36,408

PS4 – 17,392

PSV – 12,392

PS3 – 7,211

WIU – 6,807

XBO – 222

Media Create specifies that 521 of the Vita units are Vita TV (known as "PlayStation TV" in the West), and 29,000 of the 3DS sales are the New 3DS and New 3DS XL. That means the old-fashioned 3DS is still outselling the Wii-U. Japan, man. Be a handheld or GTFO.
