Phil Harrison Reportedly Leaving Microsoft [Update: Confirmed]

[Update] Microsoft has confirmed that Phil Harrison has officially parted ways with the Xbox manufacturer.

"Following a successful tenure as Corporate Vice President in Xbox in Europe, Phil Harrison has chosen to pursue business interests outside of Microsoft," Head of Xbox Phil Spencer told GamesIndustry.

"Phil has been a distinguished leader for our European Xbox team – overseeing production at our award-winning European studios and making a substantial contribution to the Xbox business globally," Spencer continued. "I want to thank Phil for his creativity and leadership over the past three years. Phil is a great friend of mine and I wish him the very best with his future endeavors."

[Original] Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison is reportedly resigning from the company after working there for three years.

This unconfirmed report comes by way of GamesIndustry, who claims several unnamed sources with inside information shared this news with the outlet at this year's Game Developers Conference. For those who don't know, Phil Harrison previously worked at other major gaming companies, including Atari, Gaikai, and Sony.

According to the report, after the departure of former Xbox head Don Mattrick, Harrison was frustrated at not being offered a promotion, while Phil Spencer was made Head of Xbox.
