Chris Avellone and Obsidian Entertainment Part Ways

Obsidian Entertainment Co-Founder and Creative Director Chris Avellone has left the company after working there for 12+ years.

He broke the news in a tweet earlier this morning, saying, "I have officially left Obsidian Entertainment to accept a sudden opening as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts." He also confirmed his departure to Eurogamer.

"It is true, Bertie, and many well wishes to the folks at Obsidian," he said. "On the future, I'm off to pursue new projects, but I can't say anything more at this time beyond life is short, and the ideas keep growing."

I'm sure plenty of fans will be eager to see what kind of project Avellone works on next. He helped design some of the most noteworthy RPGs of the past 10 years, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity.
