First Bungie Aerospace Game Arriving Next Week

The first game to be released with Bungie's indie promotion scheme, Bungie Aerospace, Crimson: Steam Pirates will come out next week.

Out on September 1st, the iPad game will be free-to-play and include eight "voyages that begin the tale of Thomas Blood's adventures in the Caribbean", as well as two "'Pass-and-Play' multiplayer scenarios". Chapter 2: Tales of Captain Blood will feature eight more missions for $1.99.

As it is a Bungie Aerospace game, it will have access to Bungie.net stats and leaderboards.

Pete Parsons, Bungie COO, previously said about their Aerospace program:

Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform. Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster, and elevate like-minded, independent developers.

Developer Harebrained Schemes is helmed by Jordan Weisman, the creative mind behind Halo 2’s “I Love Bees” Alternate Reality Game, the MechWarrior and Shadowrun universes, and more.
