Phantom Dust Remake Needs a Developer

Developer Darkside Games was hard at work on the Phantom Dust remake for Xbox One until the studio shut down back in February. Since that time Microsoft has said development continues, but the project currently has no developer.

The news comes from Aaron Greenberg, the Xbox marketing lead. In an interview with Gamer Tag Radio, he details the current state of Phantom Dust.

"It's been a passion project for [Xbox boss] Phil [Spencer] and a lot of the folks on the team," he said. "And we're currently exploring what we're gonna do longer term with Phantom Dust. The project is not canceled but we don't have an active developer on it right now. It's a project that, like many things, will take a little more time. But at this point we're not giving any more updates on it."

The game may not be canceled, but the lack of a developer is certainly a bad sign. Fans shouldn't give up hope entirely, but don't expect any Phantom Dust-related announcements in the near future.
