Galak-Z Gets Release Date

It's been a long wait for the stylistic shmup Galak-Z, but prospective buyers won't have to wait much longer. The game comes out on PlayStation 4 on August 4.

Developer 17-Bit made the announcement on Twitter. The game will be part of Sony's PLAY 2015 promotion. Unfortunately the PS4 is the only Sony platform Galak-Z will debut on. The Vita version has been scrapped.

According to 17-Bit, "Unity on Vita along w/ our intense physics & AI make it a no go." The company expressed disappointment at not being able to successfully develop a Vita port, but it certainly tried.

Galak-Z will be coming out on the PC as well, though that release will follow a little while later. 17-Bit responded to a Twitter user and said "[the PC version] will follow PS4 version by a couple of months… will announce that date in the near future."

I played a bit of Galak-Z at E3 last month and came away impressed. Its fluid controls, tough difficulty, and anime-inspired presentation make for an impressive combination. I can't wait to play more when it comes out next month.
