Yager in Deep Trouble After Being Dropped by Deep Silver

Bad news all-around for Yager.

After being dropped by Deep Silver as the developer for Dead Island 2 earlier this month, Yager Productions has filed for insolvency. It was a shock when their partnership dissolved given the amazing trailer and the fairly strong demo that I played last year of Dead Island 2.

In an official statement, Managing Director Timo Ullmann said that this was "a direct result from the early termination of the project and helps protecting our staff. In the course of the proceedings, we gain time to sort out the best options for reorganizing this entity."

Luckily, Yager Productions is just a sub-division of Yager Developments, the studio that was behind the spectacular Spec Ops: The Line, which our own Heath Hindman praised as the one of the most mature video games ever made (and I agree).

Yager is still locked in development with the flight combat simulator Dreadnought, while Deep Silver still working toward to bringing its vision of Dead Island 2 to life after being delayed.
