The Witcher 3 Had a $81 Million Budget, Took 1,500 Developers to Complete

CD Projekt RED, through a financial presentation by the studio's CEO Adam Kicinski, has revealed that the incredibly successful The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt had a budget of a whopping $81 million (or 306 million zloty).

For a point of comparison, the development and marketing budget for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was $85 million and Grand Theft Auto V cost upwards of $265 million.

Not only did The Witcher 3 sell 6 million copies in the first six weeks but the company has reported a net profit of about $63 million for their latest financial period.

Of the approximately 1,500 people who contributed to the game's production around the world, 240 of them worked in-house on the game. Over 500 voice-actors help localize the game across seven languages with voice-acting.

The Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3 will launch on October 13 and CD Projekt Red will finally turn their efforts to Cyberpunk 2077.
